This is not a happy blog update. I’ve started other posts since I’ve moved but none
of them really matter anymore.
I am back in Michigan right now; I arrived last night with my
Aunt Jean. Last Monday, we received word
that my grandmothers’ health is failing.
She caught pneumonia, and there is activity in her brain that suggests
more brain tumors. She is incredibly
weak and gets very disoriented and confused.
On Wednesday, they put her in a hospice center. The doctors are talking a matter of weeks now
instead of months.
I felt very strongly that I needed to be here. My Grandma has done so much for me throughout
my entire life that it was the least I could do to be here and help where I’m
needed. I don’t know how long I will be
out here, I flew out here on a one-way ticket and I will stay out here until
the end. There is a lot of planning and
calling and organizing to do, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a
part of everything and to have this time with my family.
I will post another update when I can. For now, prayers are appreciated. We know my Grandma is going to a better
place, but it doesn’t make it any easier on the rest of us who love her dearly.
